Entry #4. Turtles in a half shell

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles | Great Characters Wiki | Fandom

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are icons in media. They have been around since 1984 and have been in many movies and tv shows and comics. While they haven't been as big as they used to be when I was a kid they are still pretty iconic and anyone can point them out just by seeing them. Their popularity soared again when Nickelodeon produced a movie about them in   2014 and they were exposed to a whole new generation.

They are all named after Renaissance painters: Leonardo da Vinci (Blue) painted the Mona Lisa, Raphael (Red) painted School of Athens, Michelangelo (Orange) painted the Sistene Chapel, and Donatello (Purple) sculpted Saint Mark. They were named this way because the creators couldn't think of any ninja sounding Japanese names so they decided to the names of their favorite artists. The Ninja Turtles are still very popular and have even crossed over with the likes of Batman which is owned by a different publishing company. While their popularity has shifted over time the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have and always will keep their legacy going and provide entertainment for years to come.
