Entry #6. LAKESHOW

Watch the 360 go 3/60 from the field": NBA Twitter reacts to LeBron James giving the Lakers Big 3 a new nickname - The SportsRush
The Lakers are more formidable than they were last year when they won the 2020 NBA Championship. While it was a tough battle then and a well-deserved victory the workload fell down to 2 men, one of which is very much injury prone. Due to this, the Lakers were knocked off in the first round of the playoffs due to an injured Anthony Davis. While LeBron is an amazing player and certainly one of the best to ever grace the court he wasn't able to carry the team to another victory. Anthony Davis is an integral part of the team, he can shoot when he needs to and is an effective center playing excellent defense in the paint. A loss of someone literally that huge was too great. However, on July 30th of this year, Russel Westbrook joined the ranks and made a considerable difference. Russel Westbrook averages a triple-double and is capable of so much on the court. He can play defense and shoot and brings great team morale just like LeBron James. 2 people that are capable of that and an excellent big man like Anthony Davis can only lead to more wins and an intimidating title contender.

While the only thing missing is a prime shooter that can help keep up with the likes of Stephen Curry and Devin Booker, the Lakers are still a formidable matchup and won't make those shots easy to get. While the Lakers should be dominating the competition with this group, they don't currently have the best start. At this moment in the preseason, they have suffered 6 straight losses. While this would be a bad sign there is an easy explanation for this, it is the fact that players aren't trying their best during the preseason. While this may seem like a lousy excuse it simply is the truth. The preseason is just used to start driving up hype for the regular season and doesn't count towards anything. It doesn't have an impact on playoff standings or anything else. The regular season starts on October 19th, and that will be the first real showcase of what this team is capable of. It will be the first real shot at seeing how this team plays together and while the Warriors aren't as intimidating as they used to be, it will be interesting to see how they handle themselves against this super team.

  2. You make a great point that the preseason games don't count and just to driving up hype. As of this writing, the Lakers have lost two of its regular games, however, it's still early in the season, and they need more time to gel together with the addition of very good player in Russell Westbrook. On paper, the Lakers have good players on the team, but Lebron James is a year older and I'm not sure if he will be able to carry big load for this team.
